We will be celebrating 63rd Republic Day on 26th January, 2012.

The Republic Day commemorates the date on which the Constitution of India came into effect. India became a truly Sovereign State on this day.

The beginning of the occasion is always a solemn reminder of the sacrifices of the martyrs who have sacrificed their lives for the country in the freedom movement.

The festivities begin with hoisting the national flag. This is followed by a military parade which starts on Raisina Hill in New Delhi and ends at Red Fort. The military parade includes representatives from the three divisions of the Armed Forces.

This is followed by the cultural parade, with music and songs from different regions in India, showing the cultural richness and diversity in the country.

The President of India gives away the medals of bravery to the Jawans of Armed Forces for their exceptional courage in the field and also to the civilians who have distinguished themselves by their different acts of valor in different situations.

This is the day when we come together and proudly identify ourselves as true Indians. The rich culture of heritage and tradition of India is reflected on this day.

On this auspicious occasion let us

Recall the memory of valiant freedom fighters

Hold high the flag of Indian valor

Aim to develop the Nation and bring freedom and equality to all

Work hard and achieve the goals

Strengthen democracy by participation of sincere and upright citizens

Make our country corruption free

Make our country neat, clean and healthy

Give up evil social practices and lead the nation on the path of progress

Be vigilant

Unite and fight together when external challenges are detrimental to the democratic value of our Nation
